How people use the field guide
We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit, how they found the site, general device and browser information, broad geographic region, scrolls, downloads, outbound clicks, and other interactions. Google Analytics may use cookies or similar identifiers. We do not send names, email addresses, correction text, or medical details to Google Analytics.
Analytics data helps us improve navigation, accessibility, and editorial coverage. Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can limit collection with browser privacy controls or the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
02 · What is collected
Correction-intake records
A submission contains the page URL, disputed text, explanation, optional supporting-source URL, and optional email address entered by the submitter. The service also creates a private reference, deletion credential, creation time, expiry time, and a keyed, short-lived anti-abuse fingerprint.
Do not submit medical records, treatment details, government identifiers, payment information, or other sensitive personal data.
03 · Purpose and access
Editorial triage only
Private submissions are available only for correction review, response, abuse prevention, and service security. They are not published automatically. A public correction record excludes the submitter's email and private free text unless separate, explicit permission is obtained.
04 · Retention and deletion
Ninety days at most
Correction submissions expire no later than 90 days after receipt. Expired records are removed by the intake service. The confirmation screen also provides a one-session deletion control that can remove the record sooner using its private deletion credential.
Anti-abuse counters expire after the active rate-limit window and do not contain the raw network address.
Google Analytics retains user-level event data according to the retention period configured for this property. Aggregated reporting may remain available longer. Google provides additional information about its data retention controls.
05 · Requests and changes
Questions or deletion problems
Use the correction form with /privacy as the page URL and identify the relevant private reference. Do not include the deletion credential in a new submission.
